Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 security flaw

The Get Safe Online blog brings news of a critical flaw in Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 that could allow an attacker to gain control of your computer. With so many people now relying on this software this could present a major security threat to online computer users. This is the latest in a long list of issues with Acrobat Reader so it’s worth staying tuned to the Adobe website for updates if you regularly use their software. According to Get Safe Online and the Adobe Security Advisory the best remedy right now is to upgrade to Version 8* of the software. It’s a 20MB-ish download (depending on your operating system) but worth it for the peace of mind.

* If you use Microsoft Windows you need Windows 2000 SP4 or newer to get Adobe Acrobat Reader v8.0.
