The Key Steps in the
ReadyAlready Growth Cycle
You need fuel to create a great future for yourself and your colleagues.
No-one ever created a brilliant future for themselves without having good reason to.
That’s why your future begins with finding your Personal Mission:

- PERSONAL MISSION -
The heartfelt reason you love working in the service of others
Your Personal Mission is unique to you. It’s more than a purpose; it’s the principal reason why you believe in the work you do. It is the North Star that will guide and inspire you to create a meaningful, mission-powered future for yourself and your colleagues.
Its uniqueness is what can make you indispensable at work.
Your Personal Mission sits at the heart of the ReadyAlready® Growth Cycle. It reminds you—through the ups and down of each working week—why you do what you do. It will help you stay wholesomely invested in making improvements for the longer term, no matter what life throws at you next.
Finding a motivating Personal Mission is not always easy, but it is vital if you want to stay the course through the changes and challenges of the future.
As your Personal Mission comes into focus, you’ll be ready to begin spinning the cycle with these five simple F-R-O-S-T steps:

STEP 1
Let’s bridge the gap between who you are today and the person you need to become to deliver your Personal Mission.
Make a list of all the work-related things you think you may need to understand better in the near-future. Think about the inevitable changes and challenges on the near horizon and the shifts (societal, technological, political, economic…) you couldn’t avoid even if you tried. Take your time, create a long list, get these things off your chest and into your list.
Now select your favourite, just one. Whatever sings most loudly to you. This is the thing you will FOLLOW.

STEP 2
Let the adventure of discovery begin!
Learn all you can about your thing from multiple different sources, before deciding how you should REACT. Armed with the knowledge you have gained, does it still seem important and potentially useful for your future? If yes, it’s a winner, move on!
(If no, return to the FOLLOW step and pick a different thing from your list)

STEP 3
It’s time to unleash your first future-making human superpower!
Suspend your experience and OPEN your mind to new possibilities by naïvely questioning your thing. Your goal here is to challenge conventional wisdom and to question the status quo. Act like it’s your first day on the job; no ‘why?’ question is too daft… Keep asking yourself “Why?” with the enthusiasm of a child and create space in your mind for quick wins and much-needed improvements.
Remember: You’re not looking for solutions here, you’re simply creating space in your mind for the ideas to fill in next step.

STEP 4
You need fresh thinking, so let’s unleash your next human superpower!
SURPRISE yourself (and others) with playful, unexpected thinking to generate non-obvious ideas for the future of your thing. Fire up your imagination and dream big as you repeatedly ask “What if…?” to help you stumble upon new possibilities and maybe big wins opportunities that others cannot see. Go on wild flights of fancy, forget all constraints, and explore possibilities you would not otherwise have found.
Gather up all your ideas, ready to air them to others in the next step.

STEP 5
You can’t win the future alone, so it’s time for the final, vital human superpower: brilliant communication and collaboration!
Carefully decide how to TELL the right people about your thing, to win their support and encouragement. Crucially, invite them to respond with “Yes! And…” so they make your ideas better and become invested in seeing positive change happen. There’s no room for negativity or feeling defeated in your TELL session!
By bravely sharing your discoveries, raw ideas, and wildest, untested dreams, you will shift from ‘thinking’ to ‘doing’ as you inspire others to improve your ideas and ultimately commit to delivering positive change through collective action.
…and don’t stop there!
The ReadyAlready® Growth Cycle will help you learn and grow again and again. Once you’ve mastered one thing, restart the process by updating your FOLLOW list and picking your next thing to focus on. It’s that simple!
Depending on what you’re working on, it may take a few days or a few months to complete each cycle, but keep going. There’s always something new to discover that could unlock a fabulous future for you and your work colleagues 🙂
And… one last thing… a reminder!
What is a
Future-Ready Mindset?
A proactive approach to thinking and planning that prepares individuals and organisations for the inevitable changes and challenges of the future.
Put simply: it’s your passport to the bright future you deserve
