I believe that people only change when they want to change.
“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it implement a 17-step change management programme and feedback cycle.”
That’s part of my carefully considered response when Speakers Associates asked me “What are the key components of a comprehensive change management plan?”
You see, I don’t really believe in conventional change management, mostly because it doesn’t work. Well, it can work, but that only happens 30% of the time on average.
Instead, I believe that people only change when they want to change. I put my focus squarely onto each of the people who may benefit from some change or other, and help them find a reason to *want* to change.
